Mission of the Agency

Sustainably produce and manage state official statistics using the best international practices for data users in and out of Government that will raise the awareness of statistics in the general sense.

Vision of the Agency

Make Ogun State Statistical System one of the foremost, well-organised and well-resourced sub-national statistical organizations in Nigeria and indeed in the world.

STATUTORY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinate the State Statistical System
  2. Advise the State and Local Government on all matters relating to statistical information
  3. Develop and promote the use of statistical standards and appropriate methodologies in the State Statistical System
  4. Collect; compile; analyze; interpret, publish and disseminate statistical information, either solely or in collaboration with other public or private institutions;
  5. Develop and maintain a comprehensive State socio-economic database;
  6. Create an enduring database that are web enabled;
  7. Liaise with local, national and international organizations on statistical matters; and Perform such other functions relating to Statistics as the Governor may from time to time direct.

Duties

  1. Coordinate statistical operations in the State Statistical System
  2. Coordinate statistical operations in the State MDAs
  3. Liaise with National, Local Governments and Institutions on statistics matters
  4. Develop work programmes, budgets, procurement plans and other activities of support from domestics and international development partners or donors
  5. Coordinate and monitor the Bureau’s plan implementation
  6. Carry out all other function relating to statistics which the State Government may from time to time direct
  7. Foster collaboration in data analysis and dissemination
  8. Raise public awareness about the importance and role of statistical information in governance and to the society

SOCIAL & ECONOMIC STATISTICS DEPARTMENT

Duties

  1. Organise the assemblage and management of State administrative statistics relating to the social and economic sectors of the State economy
  2. Assemble, collate and analyse State statistics for publication on a timely and regular basis
  3. Coordinate field operations for price statistics
  4. Develop new tools for data collection and reporting
  5. Scrutinize and validate data and information for dissemination

Duties

  1. Liaise with National Population Commission on EA Maps, coordinates the population of the State and her constituent parts
  2. Conduct Household and Establishment censuses and surveys on periodic basis
  3. Build sustainable capacity to undertake censuses and surveys
  4. Sketch EA Maps to support censuses and surveys
  5. Promote the use of international best practices and tools in statistical production, management and dissemination

RESEARCH & METHODOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Duties

  1. Develop and promote the use of high statistical standards and appropriate methodologies in the production of statistics in the State Statistical System
  2. Provide the use of State statistical information at individual, Local Government, State Institutions, National and International levels for evidence-based policy making and decision-making
  3. Build sustainable capacity for maintaining statistical standards and appropriate methodologies in statistics production in State Statistical System
  4. Produce statistical publications including market calendars and other statistical reports on the State
  5. Coordinate the production of periodical reports on research conducted by the Bureau

INFORMATION, COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY (ICT) DEPARTMENT

Duties

  1. Develop the infrastructure for Data management including Data Banks for warehousing State Statistics at the State, Local Government and probably at the Political Ward levels
  2. Provide and update the configuration of the hardware and software for Data warehousing and exchange of State data within the State and between the State and outside
  3. Engage capacity building for the Bureau and the entire public service of Ogun State Government
  4. Coordinate and manage the ICT infrastructure of the State Government including the data networks and all automation devices and equipment

Duties

  1. Advising all Department Heads on all Financial Matters as well as technical Provision of Financial Regulations and other Treasury and Financial Circular.
  2. Keep proper accounting records (Book of Accounts) e.g Cash Book, DVEA Books and Personal Ledger, Main and Subsidiary ledger e. t. c.
  3. Maintaining proper records of account, such as Main and Subsidiary ledgers, Cash Book, DVEA Book, personal Advances Ledger, etc.
  4. Render all Returns, Capital and Recurrent Expenditure, Personal Advances, Bank Reconciliation Statement, Salary Reconciliation and other information that may be required by higher authority.
  5. Disbursement of Fund.
  6. Ensure compliance with Financial Regulation and the Accounting codes by all staff.
  7. Prepare Final Accounts/Financial Statement of the Bureau.
  8. Prepare Monthly Salary input and report there in to the State Treasury Office.
  9. Custodian of Security Documents such as Cheque Book.
  10. Prepare Bureau’s Bank Reconciliation.
