Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo was born on February 12, 1927. He studied journalism and was an accomplished columnist for many years. His column Aiyekooto (all Yoruba connotations required “Parrot, known for telling the truth) was highly regarded and appeared in the Daily Service and Daily Express newspaper between 1954 and 1962.
Chief Olabisi Onabanjo was elected the first civilian Governor of Ogun State in October 1979 and served until 1983. During his tenure as Governor, he led the State to great achievements in education (he established the Ogun State University, the first Government-owned University in the State), health and rural development. Many of the projects executed in this period continue to be landmarks across the State.

In Chief Onabanjo’s second term in office, his focus continue to be to build upon the achievements of his first tenure particularly in education and the provision of other social services such as healthcare.
