General functions of the Department

The Department is saddled with the basic responsibilities of;

Maintenance of Structural integrity of all existing Government buildings in the State.
Engineering design of new Government building in the State.

The functions of Each Unit within the Department Includes;

Structural/Civil Unit:

Provide Structural Engineering Design and Supervisory Services to the State Government in both old and new Construction of Public Buildings.
Provide Structural Engineering Design and Supervisory Services to other MDAs in both old and new construction of Public Buildings.
Design, Construction and supervision of Box Culverts, Drainages, Steel works, water works and other Civil works in Government estates and Quarters.
Repair and maintenance of Box Culverts, Drainages, and other civil works in Government Estate and Quarters.
Preparation of schedule of faults, maintenance and repairs of Structural faults in Government Estates, Public Buildings and Offices.
Routine check report on the state of performance of the structural Elements in Government Estates, Public Buildings and Offices.

Electrical/Electronics Unit;

Consultancy on Electrical Engineering Services to State Government in both old and new construction of Public Building.
Consultancy on Electrical Engineering Services to other MDAs in both old and new Public Buildings.
Preparation of Schedule of faults, Maintenances and repair of electrical faults in both old and new Government Estates, Public Buildings and Offices.
Electrical works including wiring, fittings installation, Power Supply, Street light installation, CCTV Camera installation and other Electrical works in Government Estates.
Routine check and report on the state of performance of power and electrical fittings in Government Estates, Pulic Buildings and Offices, Eg Transformer.

Mechanical(Refrigerator/Air Conditioner) Unit;

Provision of Procurement services in the purchase of Air Conditioners and Refrigerators for the State Government, the Ministry and other MDAS.
Installation of Air Conditioners and refrigerators for the State government and other MDAS.
Installation of Air Conditioners and refrigerators in all the State Government Quarters and other Public building.

Installation and Maintenance of Air Conditioners and refrigerators in all the Government Offices.
