Procurement of equipment needed for the rapid development of Science and Technology in Primary and Post-Primary institutions.
Development of Science teachers by the provision of avenues in the form of conferences, workshops, seminars etc. in order to up skill and up-date their knowledge.
Promoting healthy rivalry amongst students through Science and Technology competitions in order to popularize Science and advertise Technology as well as stimulate pupils and students.
Co-ordinating the conduct of annual Science and IT competitions e.g. Science Engineering and Technology (SET) Summit, JETS, NNPC Quiz, National Festival of School Science (NAFESS), Whizkid Competition, MOBIL/STAN Quiz, PDTF etc among schools and colleges.
Co-ordinating and promoting the teaching of Home Economics and activities of teachers in public secondary schools.
Promotion, co-ordination and monitoring of activities and programmes on practical Agriculture in primary and post-primary institutions in collaboration with relevant agricultural agencies.
Preparation of monthly and annual reports of activities of the Department for onward submission to the PRS Department.
Promoting Computer Education Programme in Primary and Post-primary institutions.
Collaborating with other arms of the ministry and other relevant agencies in the development of curriculum materials and quality control in Primary and Post-Primary institutions.
Attendance at State, National and International Conferences, Meetings, Seminars and Workshops on Education, Science, Technology, ICT and Entrepreneurship.
All other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
