The main functions of the department are to:
Responsible for meeting regularly with Local Government and Community representatives/WASHCom to obtain their support for WASH projects so as to plan and implement in the selected locations.
Mobilize personnel and resources for execution of projects in selected communities.
Liaise with Ministry of Health and other relevant related sectors for the implementation of the inter-ministerial coordination of programs in the State.
Ensure community participation, sensitization, diagnosis, dialogue, initiation of projects/programs and management of all stages of the project.
Facilitate adoption and prevention of Health and Hygiene related programs: WASH-Related cases, condition, infections and diseases. Immunization, Breastfeeding, Child and Maternal care and Nutrition for the community dwellers.
Design, produce and distribute IEC/BCC/PEC materials and manuals to the populace for further information and sustainability of all projects.
Preparation of regular report for management review and commendation.
