About Us:

The Ministry of Information and Strategy emerged as a necessary consequence of the State’s creation in 1976. First referred to as the Ogun State Information Service (OGIS), it has overtime, evolved through various nomenclatures, thereby changing functions and roles in a manner consistent with the ideas and philosophies of the State’s helmsman per time.

Today, the Ministry continues to fulfil its responsibility of projecting and propagating the activities, policies, programmes and interventions of the State Government, by adequately keeping the populace informed; as well as bringing back to the government as feedback, their reactions in form of suggestions, views, ideas and opinions on such activities, policies and programmes.

Structure of the Ministry

The Ministry has seven (7) departments with a Political Head known as the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy. It is structured purposely for dissemination of Information, projection of Government activities, policies and achievements including Image making for the Government through the following administrative arrangements:

  • Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy
  • Office of the Permanent Secretary/Accounting Officer
  • Department of Strategy
  • Department of Production Services
  • Department of Planning Research and Statistics
  • Department of Public Enlightenment
  • Department of ICT and New Media
  • Department of Administration and Supplies
  • Department of Finance and Accounts

Vision:

Management of the Public Relations and Publicity of government activities.

Mission:

Mobilizing the entire citizenry towards Government policies and programmes with a view to obtaining relevant feedback for improved service delivery.

Policy Thrust:

The main thrust of the Ministry is to among other responsibilities,

Undertake directly or through assistance of the media, an effective coverage and publicity of Government activities;

Serve as a public relations agency to various arms of Government;

Receive, process and forward comments as well as enquiries from the public to relevant government agencies;

Produce books, booklets, leaflets, magazines and wide-ranging visual Publicity materials, including documentaries, special reports, radio and television programmes for public enlightenment purposes;

Transmit through the conventional/traditional media, along with the new media, news photographs, documentaries and other relevant public enlightenment content for the consumption of external publics within and outside the State;

Project within and outside the State, progress and development pertaining to Government, the people, their culture, cities, towns and Socio-economic activities;

Provide monitoring machinery for the implementation of recurrent as well as capital projects, and serves as the central organ for the training and re-training of staff to attain efficiency and high degree of productivity, formulation and implementation of broad strategies for the achievement of Government policies and programmes;

Pursue and enhance the objective of re-orientation of values among citizens, in line with the vision of the government, while ensuring conflict management and consensus building.
