OGSG TO MAKE FOOD AVAILABLE AT CHEAPER RATES, FREE FOR VULNERABLE

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says his administration has purchased 100 trailers of rice to help cushion the effect of the rise in the price of the commodity and will be made available at the price it was sold before rise in cost.

Governor Abiodun also noted that the rice would be given out to the elderly, poor and vulnerable

The Governor made this known at the June 12 Cultural Center, Abeokuta, during a meeting with stakeholders on the state of the nation, saying, "We have decided to give our people food stuffs like rice, gari, beans.

"We have decided that the poor, elderly and vulnerable will be given the rice free of charge, while others will have to buy at the price we formerly bought it before rise in dollar, so that it will not be one-off and we can continue till the issue of the dollar is settled", he said.

The Governor revealed that in realisation of the present hardship facing the country at the moment, his government has taken some steps to cushion the effect with the intervention of N5bn which would see tertiary students of Ogun State origin across the country take N50,000, just as 100,000 students in both public primary and secondary schools in the first phase would get N10,000, while five exercise books would be given to those who did not benefit in the first phase.

The state’s helmsman urged the elderly to go to State General Hospitals or the Primary Health Care Centres to collect the health insurance card, to enable them access free medical care.

He promised to prioritise the payment of about N500m monthly to offset the payment of deductions for civil servants in the state, disclosing that government would soon implement the e-mobility programme, to drastically reduce transportation fare.

Remarking, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, appealed to the people to be calm and give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu time to fix the country.
