LIN, PREREQUISITE FOR WASSCE, BECE ENROLMENT IN OGUN, OGSG DECLARES

Students without Learners Identification Number (LIN) will not be allowed to enrol for West-African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Ogun State.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, made the declaration during a meeting with the management team of the Ministry and executive members of Private Schools Associations in the state, disclosing that LIN would henceforth be given only to pupils enrolled into primary one classes at the point of entry.

Prof. Arigbabu stated that the purpose of the meeting was to ensure that Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda (OGSERA), has accurate data on learners and schools, to curb examination malpractices, indiscipline and other anomalies being perpetrated in the education sector.

He charged stakeholders both in public and private schools to ensure strict adherence to rules and regulations of the ministry, saying, "It is incumbent on all stakeholders to uphold the principle of transparency, integrity and compliance with the education landscape".

Earlier, Director of Education, Planning Research and Statistics, Mr. Temitope Lasilo, explained that the meeting was to explore how OGSERA platform could be leveraged to optimise educational outcomes and strengthen partnership between government and the private sector.

In their separate remarks, President, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Otunba Adekunle Osibeluwo and President, Grand Union of Private Schools Association, Ustaz Ajibola, applauded Dapo Abiodun-led administration on initiatives to standardise the education sector, pledging their continuous support and compliance with its policies and programmes.
