Towards improving the quality of town planning services provided by government, Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA), has organised a technical training session on reporting instruments essential for granting building permits in the state, with the theme, "The Techniques and Preparation of Physical Planning Analysis Report (PPAR)" and "Site Situation Evaluation Report (SSER)", at the Oba's Complex Auditorium, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Speaking during the technical training session for the officers, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL. Olatunji Odunlami, said the training aimed at addressing the techniques and preparation of Physical Planning Analysis Report (PPAR) and Site Situation Evaluation Report (SSER).
TPL Odunlami called on the participants to see the training as an upgrade exercise, in order to keep them abreast of requirements for granting building permits, informing that OGPDPA was determined to improve the knowledge of Town Planners towards enhanced service delivery.
"By virtue of your profession, whatever you write or approve will live long after you are gone. You must thus ensure that you do due diligence in evaluating the reports submitted before permits are granted", the Commissioner emphasised.
In his lecture on PPAR, one of the resource persons, the Managing Director of MOA Planners Limited, TPL Moses Ogunleye, stated that it was illegal for any building permit to be granted without the PPAR, which is a data collection document that would provide information such as, land use pattern, physical and economic infrastructure, building coverage, building height and parking requirements, amongst others.
Delivering the second presentation, a retired Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Kyanaco Spatioplanning Solutions, TPL. Ayo Adesanya, described the steps for preparing the SSER to include, pre-project evaluation, site inventory survey, site analysis, preparation of site development plan and site evaluation report.
Responding on behalf of other participants, TPL. Taiwo Adeoye appreciated the management for the timely training, noting that investment in their professional development would reflect in their job delivery.
