GOVT. PROMISES MORE DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY TO THE GRASSROOTS

Ogun State Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Alhaji Ademola Balogun, has reiterated the present administration's commitments to bringing dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

Alhaji Balogun made this known in Abeokuta, at the 10th Year Anniversary, Investiture and Award Presentation of Ilupeju Oke-Odo Area Community Development Committee (ACDC), called on community leaders to always inform the government of their activities and needs, to fast-track development in their areas.

Represented by the Director of Community Development, Mr. Nurudeen Fayoyin, the Commissioner applauded the Committee for their achievements, especially, the peaceful co-existence among the people, assuring them of prompt government support and intervention.

Contributing, Ogun State Commandant, Nigeria So Safe Corps, Mr. Soji Ganzalo, charged community leaders and members of the public to take their security seriously, emphasising the need for communities to take charge of their safety and always be vigilant.

Mr. Ganzalo, who was represented by the Corps Director of Information, AC Moruf Yussuf, while delivering a lecture titled, "Community Security and Policing”, encouraged community members to be safety conscious, as security agencies alone cannot fight this battle, affirming that, “security is for all and must be viewed as such; it takes a collective effort to ensure safe environment”.

On his part, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sabo Police Station, CSP Mustapha Opawuyi, who admonished the people to love each other to foster mutual corporation and peaceful coexistence, noted that community security and policing would work where there is harmony and unity of purpose, saying, "we need to take conscious effort to make our communities safe and secured".

Remarking, the Area Community Development Committee Chairman, Dr. Munir Adesola, appreciated the state government for its support, appealing to Governor Abiodun to do more in the area of security and not to relent in organising empowerment programmes and other subventions for communities, as it would go a long way in managing community affairs and provision of social amenities.
