Functions of the Department of Finance and Accounts
- Advising the Accounting Officer and all Department Heads on all Financial Matters as well as technical provision of Financial Regulations and other Treasury and Finance Circulars.
- Advising on the control and management of funds.
- Ensuring that government revenue are collected as at when due and properly keep records of accounts.
- Advice on all Financial Matters as well as technical provision of financial regulations and other Treasure and Financial Circular.
- Keep proper accounting records (Book of Accounts) e. g Cash book, DVEA Books, personal advances etc.
- Render all returns, capital and recurrent expenditures, revenue, personal advance, salary reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and other information that may be required by higher authority.
- Handle funds transfer and disbursement of funds.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulation and the accounting codes for all staff.
- Prepare annual budget
- Prepare final accounts/ financial statement.
- Prepare monthly salary input and report therein to the state Treasury Office.
- Custodian of security documents such as cheque book.
