ABIODUN CALLS FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF IDOWA

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called on the new Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Sikiru Okuribido to concentrate more on the task of accelerating the pace of socio-economic development of the Idowa community and Ijebuland.

Governor Abiodun, who made the call at the official Installation and Presentation of Staff of Office to Oba Sikiru Okuribido, the Dagburewe of Idowa in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state, said his appointment was a call to serve and therefore he should be receptive to all, irrespective of their political affiliation, religion and social inclination, to engender the desired development in the community.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, the Governor said the new monarch should take cognizance of the cosmopolitan nature of Idowa township and ensure peaceful co-existence among the people and neighbouring communities, stressing that no meaningful development would take place in an environment of rancour and acrimony.

He hinted that the steadfastness, cooperation and support of the people had complemented the present administration’s ’Building our Future Together’ agenda in the state, reaffirming that government would continue to entrench the ISEYA mantra to create individual prosperity for the people and enhance the economy of the State.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman, Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Ladejobi Adebayo, admonished the monarch to utilise his position and wealth of experience to bring unprecedented progress to the land, calling on sons and daughters of the land to rally round the new king for Idowa’s development.

In their remarks, the Otufesojoye of Irete in Ijebuland, Oba Olusegun Yesufu and former President, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, respectively, congratulated the new monarch on his official installation, praying that God would grant him wisdom to lead aright with a large heart to sustain peace in the community.

The new Dagburewe of Idowa, in his acceptance remark, appreciated the state government and the people of Idowa for the trust reposed in him to steer the ship of the town, promising to uphold the tradition of the land, while embracing innovations and strive to work its socio–economic development.
