DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, RESEARCH AND STATISTICS

Core Functions

1. Development of short, medium and long term plans for the Ministry
2. Development of annual budgets for the Ministry and tracking of same to measure performance.
3. Monitoring of activities in respect of set targets of the Ministry as well as effective monitoring and evaluation/appraisal of the Ministry’s projects as at when due.
4. Identification/development of training needs for the staffers of the Ministry
5. Provision of library services
6. Production of quarterly and yearly reports of the Ministry’s programmes and projects.
7. Production and co-ordination of data requirements to support technical aids/external assistance
8. Research into areas of interest of the Ministry with the aim of developing work plans to assist the State Government in the implementation of its programmes.
9. Establishment of viable data bank for the Ministry
10. Provide technical guidance to develop integrated planning, monitoring and evaluation templates.
11. Provide support for the Central Department of Monitoring and Evaluation domiciled in the Ministry of Budget and Planning for joint periodic progress reports, periodic review reports and other reports with the use of Monitoring and Evaluation reporting templates
