Duties of the Department
The main responsibility of the Department of Budget is the management of the State’s Annual Budget. This is done through the following:
- Preparation, Monitoring and Control of the State’s Annual Budget;
- Preparation of Supplementary/Re-Aligned Estimates;
- Liaising with the Ministry of Finance/State Treasury Office/House of Assembly and other relevant stake holders on budgetary and financial matters;
- Preparation of quarterly performance reports;
- Expenditure control and ensuring budgetary discipline among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS);
- Preparation of budgetary guidelines for compliance among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS);
- Monitoring and control of State Contingency Vote;
- Implementation of the Pubic Financial Management (PFM) Reform Agenda and the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) Program for Results.
