YEWA AWORI, VITAL IN OUR DEVELOPMENTAL DRIVE - GOV ABIODUN
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reemphasized that Yewa Awori remains an integral part of his administration's developmental drive and it will continue to be at the foreburner of all its socio-economic considerations.
Gov. Abiodun made this known in his speech at the Yewa Division Town Hall meeting, in preparation for the 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the 2024 Appropriation Bill held at Ilaro the capital of the senatorial district.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Gov. Abiodun added that his government would continue to accord the people of the area an important position in the demonstration of sincere commitment to good governance.
According to him, Ogun State is reckoned to be the industrial capital of Nigeria, as Ogun West has the highest concentration of factories and industrial hubs in the country, saying it is home to some of the largest industrial estates in the entire sub-Saharan Africa.
Abiodun stressed that was why the government is doing all in its capacity to bring in new industries and maintain existing ones, as well as ensure ease of-doing-business environment is maintained in the area.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, reiterated that the town hall meeting was to attract citizens' participation, adding that the meeting would help improve citizens’ confidence and trust through engagement, promoting local and foreign investment, sustain interethnic and inter-religious harmony.
He said that the meeting was not just a mere ritual, but was about policies, programmes, and projects, reiterating that out of 203 inputs from last year's meeting, 193 were met and included in the last budget which represents 95 percent.
In his contribution, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle represented by the Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite, said the importance of good roads cannot be over-emphasized, calling the attention of the State government to Ejila-Awori road which borders Lagos and other areas, appealing that the on-going Imasayi-Iboro to Aiyetoro road be completed.
Other roads begging for attention were Ilara, Iguwa, and Ilase roads in Yewa North, Ota road, Lusada, Atan and Agbara road, Ilaro township road, and Imeko-Afon bridge should be given priority.
In his speech, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kazeem Salako, requested the provision of more housing schemes, calling on the government for speedy completion of the Atan-Alapoti road, Sango-Ijoko to Akute road, Ota public water scheme, improvement of road network in Ota GRA and rehabilitation of Agbara township road and construction of Mopin-Iyesi road
Also speaking the Olobi of Ilobi, Oba Adedokun Ajibade said that Okenija, Olobi to Owode road needs urgent attention of the government.
